Strategies for Base Hitting, Fleet Hitting, Player Hitting, Everything Hitting
There are strategies and ship formations that will aid you in hitting
(attacking) and destroying enemy bases. Keep in mind that I am referring to
player base hitting.
A good strategy AGAINST a
base chock full of gauss guns is NOT to charge at it screaming and
hope you get out alive. Here's one strategy that will guarantee that you will
last a bit longer:
This strategy is especially designed for
base snipers that cannot take much damage from the powerful but slow moving
heavy gauss guns.
Arrange your ship in this
formation facing the
base:
V
Base or Fleet
Now strafe(right click)
left to right, changing direction after every round of gauss gun shot.
You should be able to sustain minimal damage from gauss gun waves. Now
once you get close enough to hit the gauss gun(s), target them by right clicking
the turret.
Now the last part in this section
is fleet hitting, and it is FULL of my own opinions. Don't take them if you
want, but I think they help.
Arrange your ships in the same
position as the base hitting one, which can be achieved through strafing the
front three ships into position. Now if you are sniping, slowly back up and run
away if they are too close. If you are blitzing using energy weapons, just
charge and strafe side to side to avoid projectile weapons.
These two strategies should hopefully help you
a bit, if not a lot, on attacking both bases and player fleets. Here is just a
piece of experience I would like to share to newbies: Blitzing fleets are
AWESOME. I can beat a level 23 cargo using 6 Harriers( the second ship unlocked)
with a decent shield, armor plating, and Pulse Laser IV/Beam laser II. It is overpowered, fast,
and loose on your in game wallet. Have fun!
Base Weapon strategies:
Thermal Laser: extremely effective at killing blitzing fleets, will get destroyed by snipers
Kinetic Rail Gun: effective against snipers, destroyed by blitzers
Plasma Turret: moderately effective against everything, best in numbers.
Graviton Beam: guaranteed hit on sniping ships that run, like battleships or those pesky strafing destroyers.
These are the basic common-known rules, use them in conjunction for an Zynthonite-hard base.

Sector VEGA Cargo Hitting
Ever seen level 30+cargos in sector space? I bet you have, and they are a massive resource bomb if you manage to beat them. This section is to show you how to "manage" to. A good idea for these cargos are cheap, spammable fleets, with high DPS. I recommend laser harriers for this type of job. What you simply do is charge at them headlong, and once you beat the close range blitzing VEGA ships, you can beat the rest relatively easily. With my Beam laser harriers, I can beat a level 30 cargo with 2-3 fleets. Just use the strategies above!
Great video on Liam99 vs. Destro the Kixeye admin. Not only amusing but a useful lesson on how to hit both fleets and bases.
